Hello, my name is Graciela Esquivel, and I am the proud Principal of Jaime D. Padrón Elementary.  I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley where my paternal grandparents immigrated to from Durango, Mexico as migrant farmworkers. While growing up in the Valley, my parents always instilled in me the importance of hardwork and encouraged me to attend college.  Upon graduating from high school, I moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas and became the first member of my family to earn a college degree. I worked as a bilingual teacher for 14 years and taught Kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. The next step in my educational journey was earning my Masters in Educational Administration from Texas A&M International University which enabled me to serve as an Assistant Principal in Austin ISD. Subsequently, I worked with Austin ISD’s Multilingual Education Team for 2 years. Presently, I have had the privilege of working at Padron Elementary since the 2020-2021 school year. I truly enjoy working with all of our amazing students, parents, teachers and staff. Together, we work hard to provide the best education and elementary school experience for all of our Badgers! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Padrón Learning Community where we believe that ALL Padrón Badgers can become academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally successful!
